US Embassy once again urges Americans to leave Russia

On September 28, 2022, the US embassy issued a similar warning, urging its citizens to leave Russia while "opportunities still remain"

TASS, February 13. The US Embassy in Russia has urged American citizens to leave the country immediately, according to a statement published on Monday on the website of the diplomatic mission.

According to the statement, US citizens should refrain from traveling to Russia "due to the unpredictable consequencess" of the Ukrainian conflict, and Americans living or traveling in Russia should depart immediately because of the risk of "detention".

The embassy noted that the Russian side "may refuse to acknowledge dual nationals’ US citizenship, deny their access to US consular assistance, subject them to mobilization, prevent their departure from Russia, and/or conscript them."

On September 28, 2022, the US embassy issued a similar warning, urging its citizens to leave Russia while "opportunities still remain."
