Russian boxer Evgeny Tischenko becomes WBA world champion

During the IBA Champions Night tournament in Dubai, he defeated Germany’s Leon Harth with a knockout at the 6th round

DUBAI, December 9. /TASS/. Russian boxer, Olympic champion Evgeny Tischenko has won the title of the world boxing champion in the new "bridgerweight" weight category (between 91 and 102 kg), according to the World Boxing Association.

During the IBA Champions Night tournament in Dubai, he defeated Germany’s Leon Harth with a knockout at the 6th round.

Tischenko, 32, scored 13 victories (8 via knockout) and 1 defeat. Harth, 35, scored 22 victories (13 via knockout), 6 defeats and 1 draw.

Currently, three Russians have a champion title. In addition to Tischenko, these are Artur Beterbiyev (titles of the World Boxing Council, the International Boxing Federation and the World Boxing Organization, weight category under 79 kg) and Dmitry Bivol (WBA belt, under 79 kg).
