MOSCOW, December 18. /TASS/. Russia's permanent mission to the UN will raise the issue of the terrorist attack on Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, head of Russia's Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Protection Troops, during a Security Council meeting called by Moscow for December 20, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced at a briefing.
"Russia's permanent mission to the UN will discuss the terrorist attack during the UN Security Council meeting requested by Russia for December 20, which will focus on Western arms supplies to Ukraine," she stated.
"We are confident that all the organizers and perpetrators of Igor Kirillov's murder will be found and held accountable, no matter who they are or where they may be," Zakharova added.
"We clearly understand what this latest terrorist attack was aimed at," the diplomat said. "We hear the West, at forums of international organizations, beginning to discuss the need to revisit the topic of chemical weapons and alleged crimes involving their use in Syria," she continued.
"It was Igor Kirillov who, for years, significantly obstructed their ability to engage in fabrication," Zakharova added.
The diplomat noted that the Kiev regime had once again claimed responsibility "for the new terrorist attack."
"All these puppets - the deranged Kiev regime - are merely a tool," she said. "All of this is orchestrated by the Anglo-Saxons, who are the primary beneficiaries of the Kiev regime's terrorism," Zakharova concluded.
According to the investigation, on the morning of December 17, an explosive device placed on a scooter near a residential building on Ryazansky Avenue in southeastern Moscow was activated. Kirillov and his aide were killed in the explosion. Russia’s Investigative Committee initiated criminal proceedings under Article 205 of the Russian Criminal Code (Terrorist Act), Article 105 (Murder), Article 222.1 (Illegal Storage of Explosives and Explosive Devices), and Article 223.1 (Illegal Manufacture of Explosives and Explosive Devices). The suspect behind the terrorist attack has been arrested. The detainee is a 29-year-old Uzbek citizen who was recruited by Ukraine’s intelligence services and promised a $100,000 reward and relocation to an EU country, according to the press office of Russia’s Federal Security Service.
