Russia to support African Union’s G20 application at meeting in New Delhi, says MFA

The Addis Ababa-headquartered African Union consists of 55 countries of the continent

MOSCOW, February 28. /TASS/. Russia will support the African Union’s application for joining G20 as a permanent member at a meeting of foreign ministers in New Delhi, according to a statement released by the Russian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.

"We will support the application of the African Union for being granted the status of the G20 permanent member," the ministry said.

The Addis Ababa-headquartered African Union consists of 55 countries of the continent. It was founded in 2022 as a legal successor of the Organization of African Unity.
