MOSCOW, October 28. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov briefed his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on how Russia’s special operation in Ukraine progresses, and thanked the Chinese side for supporting Russia’s stance on Ukraine.
"Lavrov informed Wang Yi about developments in the special military operation, thanked the Chinese side for supporting Russia’s position on the need of a fair settlement of the situation around Ukraine and its efforts to prevent provocations involving components of weapons of mass destruction," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The two top diplomats praised the current state of Russia-China relations that continue to develop dynamically "amid geopolitical uncertainty and turbulence." They also addressed pressing regional and global issues.
"The Chinese foreign minister informed his Russian counterpart about the outcomes of the Communist Party of China’s 20th congress, which took place in Beijing on October 16-22, paying special attention to China’s foreign policy priorities at the current stage," the statement says.
The sides agreed to improve coordination of their actions within the UN Security Council and various international organizations.
They also exchanged opinions about the upcoming G20 summit and other international events due to take place by the end of the year.
"The ministers discussed the schedule of upcoming top- and high-level contacts," the Russian foreign ministry added.
