MOSCOW, November 6. /TASS/. The first reinforced concrete beam for tests was installed for the Moscow-St. Petersburg high-speed railway (HSR), the Russian government said.
The builders have started assembling the spans now.
"The first test reinforced concrete beam was installed on the section from Moscow to Tver. The weight of the structure is 700 tons and the length is over 30 m," the government said.
Four thousand such beams will be fabricated for the railway in total. Preparatory and construction and installation work is underway throughout the route, with 32,000 professionals and 11,000 machinery units involved.
"This is an important process threshold. We moved from the design and preparation to the assembly of spans. The further task is to replicate production on ten specialized worksites and maintain the high assembly rate," Russian Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Nikitin said.
The high-speed railway will connect Moscow and St. Petersburg, with trains moving with a 15-minute interval in rush hours.
