Merz ready to drag Germany into conflict with Russia to improve his ratings — expert

German Chancellor and German Economy Minister Katherina Reiche arrived on an unannounced visit to Kiev on Sunday

BERLIN, October 4. /TASS/. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is ready to drag his country into a war with Russia in a bid to improve his approval ratings, foreign policy expert Sevim Dagdelen of the German BSW party (formerly the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance for Reason and Justice) said.

"Merz has been and continues to be Ukrainian chancellor. It is becoming increasingly clear that he is practically ready to plunge us into a war with Russia in order to improve his disastrous approval ratings," she wrote on social media platform X, commenting on Merz’s visit to Kiev.

She called for the resignation of Germany’s "war-intoxicated" government.

Merz and German Economy Minister Katherina Reiche arrived on an unannounced visit to Kiev on Sunday, during which the chancellor announced plans to provide Ukraine with another package of military aid worth one billion euro and to allocate 350 million euros more to support its energy sector.
