Contacts between Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin help ensure stable development of bilateral relations, Guo Jiakun, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said, commenting on the prospects of a one-on-one between the two leaders on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting to be hosted by China’s Shenzhen in November.
"The strategic leadership at the level of the heads of state is the most important political guarantee of stable and long-term development of China-Russia relations," the Chinese diplomat noted in a statement. "China welcomes President Putin’s participation in the APEC leaders’ informal meeting to take place in Shenzhen in November and is ready jointly with the Russian side to help ensure that APEC China Year yields fruitful results," his statement reads.
