DPRK conducts exercise involving launch of intermediate-range strategic missiles — KCNA

According to Kim Yo Jong, a department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials from the General Missile Bureau reported to the head of state that new technologies enable the missiles to follow at least four different flight trajectories depending on the target and mission

PYONGYANG, October 3. /TASS/. The DPRK has conducted an exercise involving the launch of intermediate-range strategic missiles, Kim Yo Jong, a department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, said, according to the KCNA news agency.

"At dawn today, an exercise involving the launch of intermediate-range strategic missiles toward the east coast of our country was carried out," the statement said.

According to Kim Yo Jong, officials from the General Missile Bureau reported to the head of state, who personally observed the exercise, that new technologies enable the missiles to follow at least four different flight trajectories depending on the target and mission. She also reiterated Pyongyang’s previously stated claims about the missiles’ ability to alter their trajectories at low altitudes and their use of artificial intelligence technologies.

"In other words, this effectively means that it is impossible to evade such a strike," Kim Yo Jong said. She added that when a wave-like trajectory was employed, enemy detection systems lost track of the target after the initial ascent phase.

The DPRK official also addressed assessments of the missiles’ flight range. She noted that South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff reported a range of more than 700 kilometers, while Japan’s Ministry of Defense estimated it at approximately 680 kilometers. Pyongyang views the discrepancy as evidence of the missiles’ distinctive flight characteristics and the limitations of existing surveillance systems.

Kim Yo Jong said the DPRK had observed a similar scenario four times, adding that this, in Pyongyang’s view, confirms the effectiveness of the special flight mode employed by the missiles.
