Israeli warplanes attack Lebanon’s southern districts, 17 killed — rescuers

According to the country's emergency response center, 25 more were wounded

BEIRUT, May 24. /TASS/. At least 17 people were killed and 25 wounded as a result of Israel’s night-time attacks on populated areas in southern Lebanon, housing the strongholds of the country’s Shia militia Hezbollah, according to a bulletin by the country's emergency response center, obtained by TASS.

"Enemy warplanes attacked 16 cities, towns and settlements in the municipalities of Jezzine, Nabatieh and Tyre," the bulletin says. "Eight strikes in total were delivered on Mayfadoun and Deir Qanoun, and six on Arzoun, Srifa, and Al-Qatrani."

According to the bulletin, several residential buildings were destroyed in Ad-Doueir, Kfar Tebnit, and Nabatieh Et Tahta, and a search and rescue effort is currently under way there.

In the city of Tyre, 25 employees of a local hospital were wounded when the Israeli Air Force fired missiles at nearby buildings. Three of the medical workers are in critical condition.
