Republican Party to retain control over US House — data provider

Earlier, Republicans secured a majority in the Senate, the upper chamber of the US legislature

WASHINGTON, November 12. /TASS/. The US Republican Party is projected to retain control over the House of Representatives following the November 5 election, the Decision Desk HQ (DDHQ) election data provider said.

According to DDHQ, Republicans will win at least 218 seats in the House, which are needed to retain control over the lower chamber of the US Congress, while Democrats currently have 209 seats.

Earlier, Republicans secured a majority in the Senate, the upper chamber of the US legislature.

The Republican Party secured a majority in the House following the 2022 midterm elections. Mike Johnson, a Republican from Louisiana, is currently the third highest ranking official in the US, holding the position of the House speaker.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump defeated current US Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party’s contender, in the November 5 presidential election. Trump’s inauguration is set for January 20, 2025.
