MINSK, March 13. /TASS/. Belarus and Iran have similar positions and approaches to many issues on the international agenda, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Monday after talks with his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi.

"It is encouraging that we have similar positions and approaches to many issues on the international agenda. Most importantly, Belarus and Iran are committed to the idea of creating a fair multipolar world," BelTA quoted Lukashenko as saying.

The Belarusian head of state recalled that the last time he visited Iran was 17 years ago. "I must say that no sanctions, no pressure could not stop the movement of the Iranian people to its independence and security," Lukashenko said. According to him, sanctions are a time of opportunity. "We agree with the president of Iran that sanctions are a time of opportunity. It's very important for us not to lose this time," the head of state added.
