NEW YORK, March 13. /TASS/. Chinese President Xi Jinping plans to hold a virtual meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday, citing sources.

According to the paper, next week the Chinese leader plans to visit Moscow to meet with President Vladimir Putin, after which he will then speak with Ukraine’s Zelensky.

According to people familiar with the matter, Beijing seeks "to play a more active role in mediating an end to the war in Ukraine", the newspaper said. "Xi is considering visiting other European countries as part of his trip to Russia, though his full itinerary has yet to be confirmed, according to the people," it said.

Earlier on Monday, Reuters reported referring to its sources that Xi Jinping was planning to travel to Moscow and meet with President Vladimir Putin as early as next week.
