US President Joseph Biden spoke with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron by phone on Tuesday, and they discussed assistance to Ukraine and "imposing costs" on Russia for the special military operation, according to a statement the White House released following the talks.

The leaders discussed their support for Ukraine, including their commitment to continue providing Ukraine with security assistance and imposing costs on Russia" for the special military operation, according to the statement.

The presidents also discussed cooperation between the countries in the Indo-Pacific region and "shared efforts to address challenges posed by the People’s Republic of China to the rules-based international order."

"The leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to coordinate closely on accelerating the transition to clean energy economies," the statement said.
