HONG KONG, November 6. /TASS/. The milestone 10th edition of the Russian Culture Festival, timed to coincide with National Unity Day, opened in Hong Kong with an exhibition featuring works by eight women artists.
The event is organized by the Russian Club in Hong Kong with support from the Russian Consulate General.
Visitors can see paintings by eight Russian women artists living in Hong Kong: Anastasia Akimenko, Yulia Shautsukova, Anna Pastukh, Anna Salenko, Yulia Skrygina, Anna Kardash, Yevgenia Knyazeva and Anastasia Kraeva.
Artist and exhibition curator Yulia Shautsukova told a TASS correspondent that this year's theme is "Hong Kong as our second home."
"All the paintings are about our connection with this city. Most of the artists have lived here for many years, so they sought to express their feelings and attitudes toward a place that has become home to us. These works use different techniques: oil painting, acrylic painting, various complex techniques, batik and even several sculptures," she explained.
"But we also have another room here, which we have called 'Dreams of Russia.' While living here, we always remember Russia. So we have included several works that explore Russian landscapes and the Russian soul," she added.
