MOSCOW, August 24. /TASS/. Ukrainian security agencies are actively sharing their expertise in the use of drones with representatives of terrorist groups in Africa, Alexander Kharchenko, a war correspondent for RT.Doc, told TASS.
"Ukraine is actively working on various international fronts and is trying to actively export its experience in the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to foreign markets. I have encountered Ukrainian technology in Africa," he said.
Kharchenko pointed to the emerging interest in drone technology among militants in Mali. "There are desert regions bordering Mali. There is effectively no border there, that is, no one is guarding it. And there are training camps in Mauritania where [militants] receive training from Ukrainian instructors, among others. They adopt this experience and then use it against the Malian army," Kharchenko noted.
He added that experienced specialists are working with the militants – specialists trained in modern technologies who understand the latest trends in the use of UAVs. "In other words, they (the Ukrainians) are not averse to collaborating with international terrorist groups," the war correspondent concluded.
A private screening of Kharchenko’s documentary The Malian Frontier has been recently held in Moscow. The film was produced by the RT.Doc with support from the African Initiative publication and chronicles the daily lives of soldiers from the African Corps of the Russian Armed Forces, who are engaged in combat operations against the JNIM (a terrorist organization banned in Russia) and the Azawad Liberation Front.
