Iran wants to work with Russia to thwart information attacks from Western media

"We see broad international cooperation between Iran and Russia in combating fake news and we must continue to develop cooperation to rebuff these information attacks," Farshad Mehdipour said

TEHRAN, February 6. /TASS/. Iran is calling on Russia to pool efforts to counter information attacks from the Western mass media, Iranian Deputy Minister for Media Affairs and Information of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance Farshad Mehdipour said on Monday.

"We need to consolidate efforts to neutralize Western media attacks," the Nour News agency quoted him as saying at the fourth meeting of the Russian-Iranian committee of cooperation in the media sphere.

"The United States and governments of other Western nations keep on trying to picture the governments of nonaligned countries as violators of human rights in order to create a negative image of them in the public consciousness. Concurrently, these mass media keep silent about such facts as, for instance, tough sanctions against Iran and Russia’s peoples. We see broad international cooperation between Iran and Russia in combating fake news and we must continue to develop cooperation to rebuff these information attacks," he said.

The Russian delegation is led by Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Bella Cherkesova.
