Putin’s electoral rating jumps to 74% — poll results

According to the poll, 84% respondents are sure Putin works well in his position

MOSCOW, February 13. /TASS/. The electoral rating of Russia’s President Vladimir Putin is as high as 74%, as seen from results of a poll conducted by the Public Opinion Fund (FOM).

The survey was organized on February 7-8. To the question whom the surveyed would support if the presidential election was next Sunday 74% named Putin. This result is by 2% higher than during the previous poll on January 31, FOM said.

Ratings of other politicians remained unchanged: leader of the Liberal-Democratic Party of Russia Vladimir Zhirinovsky could receive support from 5% of the electorate; Communist Gennady Zuganov could gain 4%, and Mikhail Prokhorov of the Civil Platform — 1%.

The poll results show most Russians believe Putin: 44% confirmed they believe absolutely, and 41% responded with "rather believe." The polling institution reports 84% respondents are sure Putin works well in his position.

The poll was organized in Russia’s 64 regions and featured 3,000 respondents.
