Russian top diplomat calls Ukrainian crisis "tragic example of short-sighted policy"

Sergey Lavrov blamed supporters of ‘geopolitical engineering’ for the emergence of the crisis

BEIJING, April 28. /TASS/. The crisis in Ukraine is a vivid example of a short-sighted policy, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Thursday at a ministerial meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

"A tragic example of a short-sighted and extremely dangerous policy of supporters of ‘geopolitical engineering’ is the Ukrainian crisis," he said. "A path to political settlement in that country goes only through strict realization of the package of measures on the implementation of the Minsk agreements via direct dialogue between Kiev and the regions."
