Denmark could seize vessels with Russian cargo in Baltic Sea — Russian embassy

The diplomatic mission noted that, given the current circumstances in the Baltic region, "any provocation could lead to a major disaster"

MOSCOW, October 23. /TASS/. Denmark has responded with approval to forcible seizures of vessels carrying Russian cargo by NATO countries in waters of the Baltic Sea, which is why the country does not rule out that it could carry out similar operations of its own, which are, in essence, acts of outright piracy, the Russian Embassy in Denmark told Izvestia.

"Denmark has responded favorably to forcible seizures, including in the Baltic Sea, of vessels carrying Russian cargo by NATO countries, and it does not rule out taking similar actions itself either. It is being indicated that preparations are underway for what are, in essence, acts of piracy," the embassy said.

In this regard, the diplomatic mission noted that overall the current situation in the Baltic region is such that "any provocation could lead to a major disaster with consequences of unpredictable scale."
