MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/. The current government in Kabul is governing the country quite successfully, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.
"The national government that came to power, led by the Taliban movement, has brought the country’s territory under control and, one must admit, is governing it quite successfully," Lavrov said in opening remarks at a meeting of the Moscow Format Consultations on Afghanistan at the level of special representatives and senior officials.
The foreign minister noted that Afghanistan’s authorities are waging an uncompromising fight against terrorist groups. "Hundreds of militants have been destroyed, with a number of high-profile terrorist attacks foiled, including those targeting foreign citizens and diplomatic missions," Lavrov concluded.
