Kremlin unaware of US reaction to Russia's warning of strikes on military targets in Kiev

Dmitry Peskov declined to interpret the Russian Foreign Ministry’s wording as to whether "systematic strikes" meant attacks would take place every day or at certain intervals

MOSCOW, May 26. /TASS/. The Kremlin is yet unaware of Washington's reaction to Moscow’s warning that the Russian Armed Forces are beginning systematic strikes on defense industry sites in Kiev, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"We do not have any information on that at this point. We have heard some statements from officials in European capitals and EU representatives in Kiev. Our priority here is the warning that we sent," he said.

Meanwhile, the presidential spokesman declined to interpret the Russian Foreign Ministry’s wording as to whether "systematic strikes" meant attacks would take place every day or at certain intervals.

"Systemic does not imply any specific frequency. It doesn’t mean regular. In fact, the Foreign Ministry laid it all out clearly in its statement," Peskov noted.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying that the Ukrainian army’s strike on a college in Starobelsk had been the last straw, so the Russian Armed Forces would now begin to carry out systematic strikes on defense industry sites in Kiev. The ministry added that Russia recommended foreign nationals leave the Ukrainian capital as soon as possible and that city residents stay away from military and administrative facilities.
