MOSCOW, December 6. /TASS/. The United States ignores the positive report of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) on the elections in Georgia because it does not like the results, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson.
"When the OSCE monitors elections, when it used to monitor elections in Russia, they would always be very negative, and in other countries as well, Belarus, Kazakhstan. This time, in Georgia, the monitoring mission of OSCE presented a positive report. And it is being ignored. So, when you need endorsement of the procedures, you do it when you like the results of the election. If you don't like the results of elections, you ignore it. It's like when the United States and other Western countries recognized unilateral declaration of independence of Kosovo, they said this is the self-determination being implemented," the top diplomat said.
The new wave of protests was triggered by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s statement on November 28, when he said that the ruling Georgian Dream — Democratic Georgia party had decided to postpone any talks on starting EU accession negotiations until the end of 2028 and to refuse any funding from the organization. According to the prime minister, the decision comes after regular EU blackmail in connection with the talks, along with demands to repeal some recent laws and sanction Georgian officials.
