ASTANA, November 12. /TASS/. Russia, Iran and Turkey affirmed their resolve to organize a summit on Syria in Russia, according to a joint statement following the 22nd Astana format meeting on the situation in the Arab republic.
The three countries doubled down on "the agreement fixed in the concluding statement of a three-way summit on July 19, 2022 to hold a [Syria] summit in Russia," the document reads.
Also, the sides agreed to hold the 23rd international meeting on Syria in Astana in the first half of 2025.
The 22nd Astana format meeting on Syria is taking place in the capital of Kazakhstan on November 11-12. Among other issues, participants in the international meeting discussed efforts to resolve the Syria crisis overall, release hostages and search for those missing, as well as the humanitarian situation in the country and moves to mobilize international efforts toward post-conflict reconstruction.
