MOSCOW, December 8. /TASS/. The details of Vladimir Putin’s election campaign are yet to be determined, so the Kremlin will release this information later, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"Putin has declared his intention to run [in the election]. Everything else is still nuances which have to be defined. As the decisions are made by Putin, we will keep you informed," the Kremlin spokesman said.

In addition, Peskov clarified how the president announced his decision.

"At the end of the ceremony awarding Gold Star medals to Heroes of the Russian Federation, Putin was to offer the awardees to treat themselves to a traditional glass of champagne, scheduled to take place in a next-door hall. He [Putin] was addressed by Artem Zhoga, who is the father of Hero of Russia and Hero of the DPR [Vladimir] Zhoga, and a member of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation’s supervisory board. Putin turned his attention to him and asked him to come closer," Peskov explained.

A group of other participants in the ceremony also approached the president.

"This group spoke [to the president]. The gist of the conversation was that they proposed Putin run as a candidate in light of the fact that the Federation Council had announced the presidential election in our country," the Kremlin spokesman continued.
