Putin says he discusses defense cooperation with Kazakh president

"Russia provides much assistance to Kazakhstan in training military personnel and specialists at the educational institutions of the Defense Ministry and other law enforcement agencies," the Russian leader pointed out

ASTANA, November 9. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has discussed defense cooperation with his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during a visit to Astana.

Putin said in a media statement following Russian-Kazakh talks that the parties "discussed <...> strengthening defense cooperation among other things."

"We are CSTO (the Collective Security Treaty Organization - TASS) members. Russia provides much assistance to Kazakhstan in training military personnel and specialists at the educational institutions of the Defense Ministry and other law enforcement agencies," Putin pointed out.

He added that licensed production of Russian military equipment and related maintenance services had been launched in Kazakhstan with Russia’s assistance.
