BEIJING, February 22. /TASS/. China and Russia will together continue to stand up for the key goals and principles of the UN charter and decisively oppose hegemonism and bloc confrontation, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday, following a meeting in Moscow between Director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), member of the CCP Politburo Wang Yi and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

"Both sides agreed to continue to strengthen coordination within the framework of the UN and other international multilateral mechanisms, together defend the basic goals and principles of the UN Charter, resolutely oppose hegemonism and bloc confrontation," said the statement published on the ministry’s website.

In terms of his informal rank, Wang Yi is higher than Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang, as he is a member of the Politburo and holds the post of director of the office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission, chaired by the head of state, Chinese President Xi Jinping.
