MOSCOW, February 1. /TASS/. Russian forces struck two Ukrainian army brigades near Ugledar in the Donetsk People’s Republic over the past day during the special military operation in Ukraine, Defense Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov reported on Wednesday.
"In the southern Donetsk and Zaporozhye directions, army aviation strikes and artillery fire by units of the battlegroup East inflicted damage by firepower on the personnel and equipment of the Ukrainian army’s 72nd mechanized brigade and 35th marine corps brigade near the community of Ugledar in the Donetsk People’s Republic," the spokesman said.
Russian forces also struck the Ukrainian army’s 108th and 124th territorial defense brigades near the settlements of Novosyolka and Mirnoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic, the general added.
Russian artillery struck the Ukrainian army’s manpower and military equipment in the Kupyansk area over the past day, Konashenkov reported.
"In the Kupyansk direction, artillery of the western battlegroup inflicted damage by firepower on the personnel and equipment of the Ukrainian army’s 14th and 92nd mechanized brigades near the communities of Gryanikovka and Timkovka in the Kharkov Region and Novosyolovskoye in the Lugansk People’s Republic," the spokesman said.
Russian forces "eliminated as many as 30 Ukrainian servicemen, two pickup trucks and a D-20 howitzer in that area in the past 24 hours," the general specified.
Russian army aviation and artillery struck Ukrainian army brigades in the Krasny Liman area, eliminating about 95 enemy troops over the past day, Konashenkov reported.
"In the Krasny Liman direction, army aviation strikes and artillery fire by the battlegroup Center inflicted damage on the amassed manpower of the Ukrainian army’s 80th and 95th air assault brigades," the spokesman said.
"The enemy’s losses in that area in the past 24 hours amounted to 95 Ukrainian personnel, three armored combat vehicles and a motor vehicle," the general specified.
Russian forces gained more advantageous positions in their advance in the Donetsk area, eliminating over 100 Ukrainian troops in the past day, Konashenkov reported.
"In the Donetsk direction, units of the southern battlegroup took more advantageous frontiers and positions in their offensive and inflicted damage on the enemy by firepower in areas near the settlements of Tonenkoye, Nelepovka and Severnoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic," the spokesman said.
During the last 24-hour period, Russian forces destroyed over 100 Ukrainian troops, one tank, three armored combat vehicles, one Msta-B howitzer, one Uragan multiple rocket launcher and a French-made Caesar self-propelled artillery system in that area, the general specified.
Russian forces eliminated over 60 Ukrainian troops in the southern Donetsk and Zaporozhye areas in the past day, Konashenkov reported.
"The Ukrainian army’s losses in those areas in the past 24 hours amounted to over 60 personnel, one tank, one infantry fighting vehicle, two armored personnel carriers and three motor vehicles. Also, a Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer, two D-30 howitzers and one D-20 howitzer were destroyed," the spokesman said.
In the area of the settlement of Orekhov in the Zaporozhye Region, a US-made AN/TPQ-37 counter-battery radar was wiped out, the general specified.
Russian forces eliminated about ten Ukrainian commandos and two motor boats in the Kherson area over the past day, Konashenkov reported.
"Two motor boats and up to ten members of a Ukrainian assault force were eliminated near Lake Kruglik in the Kherson area," the spokesman said.
In the counter-battery warfare, Russian forces wiped out a Ukrainian Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer and three ammunition depots in the areas of the settlements of Gavrilovka and Antonovka in the Kherson Region, the general specified.
Russian forces destroyed Ukrainian ammunition production workshops in the Sumy Region over the past day, Konashenkov reported.
"Operational-tactical aircraft, missile troops and artillery of the Russian group of forces struck 88 Ukrainian artillery units at firing positions, manpower and military equipment in 131 areas. In the area of the settlement of Shostka in the Sumy Region, workshops of the enterprise producing artillery ammunition for the Ukrainian army were obliterated," the spokesman said.
Russian forces destroyed a Ukrainian artillery ammunition depot in the Donetsk People’s Republic over the past day, Konashenkov reported.
"In the area of the settlement of Dobrovolye in the Donetsk People’s Republic, an ammunition depot of the Ukrainian army’s 55th artillery brigade was destroyed," the spokesman said.
Russian air defense forces shot down nine Ukrainian drones and intercepted three US-made HIMARS rockets over the past day, Konashenkov reported.
"In the past 24 hours, air defense capabilities shot down nine unmanned aerial vehicles in areas near the settlements of Zolotaryovka, Kremennaya, Novovodyanoye and Chervonopopovka in the Lugansk People’s Republic, Storozhevoye and Petrovskoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic and Chapayevka in the Zaporozhye Region, and also intercepted three rockets of the US-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket system," the spokesman said.
In all, the Russian Armed Forces have destroyed 381 Ukrainian combat aircraft, 206 helicopters, 2,996 unmanned aerial vehicles, 402 surface-to-air missile systems, 7,706 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 998 multiple rocket launchers, 3,978 field artillery guns and mortars and 8,243 special military motor vehicles since the beginning of the special military operation in Ukraine, Konashenkov reported.
