Former Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for CIS Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) and ex-Crimean prosecutor Natalia Poklonskaya has announced that she has been appointed as an advisor to Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov, stressing that she is ceasing her public activities in connection with this.
"Today, I’ve been appointed to the post of advisor to Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Viktorovich Krasnov. I know that there will be a lot of good wishes, and I thank everyone in advance for their support and interest in my service. I have stopped updating my social networks and any public activity," she wrote on her Telegram channel.
She clarified that she will now be engaged in carrying out the tasks set by Russia's Prosecutor General in accordance with the federal law ‘On the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation’. "For media representatives: I inform you that you should contact the press service of Russia's Prosecutor General's Office for comment," she added. Poklonskaya has previously spoken to the media, commenting on various political and social topics.
On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a degree dismissing Natalia Poklonskaya, deputy head of the Federal Agency for CIS Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo). It is noted that the decree comes into effect on the day of its signing, which is June 13. In turn, Poklonskaya said that her resignation from the post of deputy head of the agency is due to her transition to a new post.
On February 2, the President signed a decree appointing Poklonskaya as Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo. By another decree, the President relieved her of her duties as Russian Ambassador to Cape Verde. She was appointed to this position in October 2021, and on January 19, the Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry reported that Poklonskaya's departure as ambassador to Cape Verde had been canceled for personal reasons.
Poklonskaya was Crimea's first prosecutor after the republic's reunification with Russia in 2014; she became a State Duma member in September 2016.
