MOSCOW, June 8. /TASS/. The US side has frozen its strategic stability dialogue with Moscow for an indefinite period and no longer sees it as a priority amid the conflict in Ukraine, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov has told Russia’s Channel One.
"On February 25, on Washington’s initiative, the strategic dialogue <…> was frozen for an indefinite period. We were told that the [US] administration does not see arms control as its priority amid the Russian special military operation," he told the Bolshaya Igra (Big Game) show on Tuesday night.
The ambassador went on to say that Russia was ready for a serious and professional dialogue on the issue with the US side, but will not press for its resumption.
"We, the Russian side, are ready for a serious, professional conversation with the Americans on the issue, since it is in our interests, and I’m sure it is also in the interests of the US and the international community as well. But, importantly, we are not going to run after the Americans," Antonov said.
