Putin appreciates valor, self-sacrifice of 24th special purpose brigade in Ukraine

The head of state expressed the certainty that the brigade’s soldiers and officers would stay faithful to their oath, serve their country with dignity, and reliably ensure the safety and peaceful life of its people

MOSCOW, May 30. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated the command and personnel of the 24th separate special purpose brigade in Ukraine and conferred on it the honorary Guards title. The message of congratulations was uploaded to the Kremlin’s website on Monday.

"Competent and resolute action by the brigade’s personnel in the course of the special military operation in Ukraine are a sample of commitment to miliary duty, valor, self-sacrifice and professionalism," the message reads.

Putin said that the honorary Guards title was a great honor and a token of recognition of special achievements, mass heroism and valor, fortitude and bravery displayed by the brigade’s personnel in combat during operations to defend the Motherland and state interests.

The brigade was formed in 1977 in the Trans-Baikal Military Region on the basis of the 806th separate special purpose company. In 2002, it was relocated to Buryatia, in 2009 - to the Irkutsk region, and in 2012 - to Novosibirsk.
