UNITED NATIONS, April 13. /TASS/. Thousands of people are being exposed to violence in US-controlled camps in Syria, Russian Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Gennady Kuzmin said at a UN Security Council meeting on preventing sexual violence in conflict.
He expressed concern about information provided in the UN secretary general’s report, which pointed to a rise in violence against women and girls in conflict zones on the African continent, in Colombia and Syria.
"Thousands of people kept in Syria’s Al-Hol and Al-Rukban camps, controlled by the US occupation authorities, are being exposed to violence, exploitation and mistreatment," Kuzmin pointed out. "Marginalized, they are in a desperate situation. Prostitution, theft, the sexual exploitation of underage children and human trafficking are thriving there, and unmatched marriages are common," he added.
