BEIRUT, March 31. /TASS/. At least 10 people were killed in a car bomb explosion in a market square in the city of Azaz in northern Syria, 10 km from the border with Turkey, Al Mayadeen TV channel reported.
According to the TV channel, the death toll can rise considering that as rescuers continue to clear the rubble. Fire brigades are working at the scene. 23 people were injured and taken to a local hospital.
Azaz is under the control of the so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA), which participated alongside Turkish troops in 2016-2017 in Operation Euphrates Shield to create a security zone in the north of Aleppo province.
Representatives of the Syrian armed opposition blamed the explosion on the extremist group Jabhat al-Nusra (outlawed in Russia), which competes with the FSA.
