All participants in Monday’s attacks on police in Chechnya teenagers, say authorities

GROZNY, August 20. /TASS/. All participants in Monday’s attacks on police in Chechnya were teenagers, Chechnya’s Nationalities Policy, External Relations, and Press and Information Affairs Minister Jambulat Umarov told TASS.

"The oldest of those who steered a motor vehicle into traffic police was under 17 years of age. According to information available at this point the youngest person in the car was 11," Umarov said.

He said that the Islamic State (terrorist organization outlawed in Russia) had developed "special programs to brainwash teenagers," adding that the attackers’ average age tended to go down.

"Among the militants we often see boys aged 11-12. As for older ones, those who have brains, are far less frequent," he said.
