BRATISLAVA, October 26. /TASS/. Energy security is Slovakia's priority at the meeting of the Russian-Slovak intergovernmental commission on economic, scientific, and technical cooperation currently taking place in Moscow, Juraj Blanar, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia and co-chairman of the intergovernmental commission, wrote on his Facebook (banned in Russia, owned by Meta recognized as extremist in Russia) page.
"The priority with which we arrive in Moscow is, for us, the energy security of Slovakia," he said. It is "vital to maintain a pragmatic and constructive dialogue with Russia," Blanar added.
"Even in the current tense situation, we reject the raising of any new 'Iron Curtain' with Russia and consider it essential to maintain dialogue," the minister stressed.
The intergovernmental commission on economic, scientific, and technical cooperation serves as one of the tools for Slovakia for maintaining dialogue with Russia. At the same time, the republic fulfills its obligations regarding the anti-Russian sanctions adopted by the European Union, the minister said.
"However, as an EU member state, we have not lost our sovereignty, and therefore we will discuss topics with Russia that are important to us," Blanar wrote. Experts from both sides will hold negotiations in the areas of energy, nuclear energy, agriculture, environment, tourism, sports, and culture," he added.
