Share of imported vodka in Russia below 1%

The main exporter of vodka to Russia is Belarus

MOSCOW, June 24. /TASS/. Imported vodka holds less than 1% of the vodka market in Russia, Ladoga company Vice President Evgeny Mezhonny on the sidelines of the Russian Retail Week forum.

"Imported vodka accounts for less than 1%," he said.

The President of the Alcopro Guild of Experts, Andrei Moskovsky, also told TASS that imported vodka’s share in Russia is minimal.

"The main exporter of vodka to Russia is Belarus. This is almost as much as all other countries combined. Vodka from France is popular, it is growing," he said. "There is Absolut, there is Finlandia [brands - TASS], followed by exotic ones," he noted.

Russian whiskey definitely holds more than 50% of the whiskey market in Russia, Mezhnonny noted.

"We expect that within a decade it will reach 80%; within 2-3 years - up to 60%," he added.
