Loading of export cargoes on Russian Railways network to ports up 7.4% in May

28 million metric tons of export cargoes were sent through the Russian Railways network to commercial seaports in the reporting period

MOSCOW, June 24. /TASS/. The loading of export cargoes through the network of Russian Railways to seaports increased in May 2026 by 7.4% annually and amounted to 28 million metric tons, the railway operator said.

"In total, 28 million metric tons of export cargoes were sent through the Russian Railways network to commercial seaports in May. This is 7.4% more than in the same period in 2025," the company informed.

Specifically, 10.9 million metric tons were transported to the Far East, which is 15.4% more than in 2025. Shipments to the northwest stood at 9 million metric tons (-18.5%), and 8.1 million metric tons (+45.4%) to the south.

The positive dynamics was provided by the transportation of coal (15.4 million metric tons, +18.4%), iron ore (1.1 million metric tons, +40.6%), ferrous metals (1.1 million metric tons, +8.1%), and grain (1.1 million metric tons, an increase of 2.6 times).

"During five months of 2026, 135.3 million metric tons were sent towards marine terminals (+3.5% compared to January - May 2025)," Russian Railways said.
