WASHINGTON, February 13. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump has said that Taiwan had taken semiconductor chip business away from the United States and that he wanted it back, Reuters reported.
The US leader made the statement during his conversation with journalists at the White House.
Earlier, Trump repeatedly announced the intention to impose tariffs on imports of chips from Taiwan and the wish to get chip producers back to the territory of the US.
On January 31, Trump said that the US intended to impose tariffs on supplies of semiconductors, oil, gas, steel, aluminum, and copper to the country. The US president did not specify which states might be affected.
Earlier this week, Trump gave instructions to impose tariffs on all imports of steel and aluminum to the country in the amount of 25%.
