TBILISI, January 22. /TASS/. Georgia bought Russian gas for $145.7 million in 2024, which is 32% more than in 2023, according to data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia.
In 2023, Georgia paid more than $110 million for Russian gas.
Azerbaijan remains the main supplier of natural gas to Georgia. According to the statistics service, last year Tbilisi purchased gas from Baku for more than $254 million, which is 19% less than the data for 2023.
Georgia and Russia are connected by the North-South gas pipeline, through which gas is also supplied to Armenia. According to the previous agreement between Georgia and Russia, Tbilisi received 10% of the total volume of gas pumped to Armenia via the pipeline. Several years ago, Tbilisi and Moscow amended the agreement, and now Georgia receives money instead of fuel for the gas that flows to Armenia.
