Trade turnover between Russia and Iran falls to around $4 bln by end of 2023 — Novak

The Russian deputy prime minister added that he sees potential for growth in trade turnover between the countries

TEHRAN, February 28. /TASS/. Trade turnover between Russia and Iran at the end of 2023 fell to around $4 bln compared to 2022, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said during a press conference following a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation between the two countries in Tehran.

"The total volume of exports from Russia amounted to $2.7 bln, from Iran - $1.3 bln," he said, adding that he sees potential for growth in trade turnover between the countries.

"We have overcome all barriers and I think that trade will continue to develop," Novak noted.

According to the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, at the end of 2022, foreign trade turnover between Russia and Iran increased by 20% to a record-breaking $4.9 bln.
