Russia’s Drevoch camouflage suit upgraded based on special op experience

A shielding layer made of metallized fabric has been added to the design, which has made the suit easier to use in cold temperatures

MOSCOW, October 2. /TASS/. Russia’s Drevoch camouflage suit has been modernized based on experience gained in the special military operation, enhancing its ability to reduce visibility in the thermal imaging spectrum, the Zavoz.pro company told TASS.

Drevoch was introduced about a year ago as a camouflage suit for units that need to maintain mobility. Unlike capes and ponchos, the suit consists of a jacket and pants and is designed for active movement. Its design allows for movement across rough terrain and through vegetation, while the fine mesh of the base fabric reduces the likelihood of snagging on equipment. "The product was improved based on feedback from Russian service members fighting in the special military operation zone," the company reported.

It noted that one of the main changes was the decision to add a shielding layer made of metallized fabric to the design, which will make the suit easier to use in cold temperatures.

Previously, Drevoch already combined several types of camouflage. For example, its camouflage pattern and three-dimensional 3D texture help conceal a person’s silhouette in the terrain, while the material with infrared properties reduces visibility when observed through night vision devices and thermal imagers.

In addition, Zavoz.pro reported that over a thousand Drevoch suits were delivered during the first year of production. "The upgraded version was released later - about three months ago. During this period, about 500 suits with improved design were delivered," the company stated.
