Ukraine’s losses amounted to over 200 service members and about 50 combat and support vehicles, the Russian Defense Ministry said

MOSCOW, February 6. /TASS/. Russian forces have thwarted a Ukrainian counter-offensive in the Kursk Region, repelling all attacks, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"As of 9:00 p.m. [Moscow time, 6:00 p.m. GMT] on February 6, 2025, units of the northern battlegroup have thwarted an attempted counter-offensive of the Ukrainian armed forces towards the settlements of Cherkasskaya Konopelka and Ulanok in the Kursk Region. All attacks have been repelled," the ministry said.

According to the report, up to two Ukrainian mechanized brigades driving armored personnel carriers and armored fighting vehicles, with the support of tanks and obstacle-clearing vehicles, have made eight attempts to attack Russian positions since Thursday morning.

They were met and beaten back by servicemen from the 11th Guards Air Assault Brigade, the 810th Guards Naval Infantry Brigade, the Russian Volunteer Corps, the Arbat volunteer battalion, the 40th Separate Guards Naval Infantry Brigade, and the 177th Naval Infantry Regiment, with the support of artillery and aviation.

Ukraine suffered significant losses in the failed counteroffensive, both in manpower and equipment, the ministry said.

"Ukraine’s losses amounted to over 200 service members and about 50 combat and support vehicles, including eight tanks, five infantry fighting vehicles, one armored personnel carrier and 30 armored fighting vehicles, as well as three obstacle-clearing vehicles, a vehicle-launched bridge and other military equipment," the ministry said.

"Units of battlegroup North are conducting a mop-up operation against isolated groups of the enemy," the ministry added.
