Ceasefire observed in most governorates in Syria throughout Sunday

The number of villages and townships that have joined the ceasfire process has increased to 486

MOSCOW, August 29. /TASS/. Ceasefire was observed throughout Sunday in most Syria’s governorates, the Russian center for reconciliation of the warning sides said in a news bulletin that was published at the website of the Russian Defense Ministry.

The units attributing themselves to the oppositionist grouping Jaysh Al Islam delivered fire from mortars at the populated localities Jaubar, Arbil, Haush Douara, Douma, Harasta and Cabun in Damascus Governorate.

As the militants affiliated with the Ahrar al-Sham grouping the populated localities of Ara and Brouma and Toubal Fortress in Latakiya Province, they used drones fitted out with explosive devices.

Also in Latakiya, militants of the Syrian Free Army and the Islamic Party of Turkestan delivered fire at the enviros of Mount Abu Ali.

Units of the Russian Aerospace Force and the Syrian Air Force did not deliver air strikes at the oppositionist paramilitary units that said they would observe ceasefire and informed the Russian or American reconciliation centers on their coordinates.

In the meantime, Jabhat al-Nousra and the Islamic State continued putting up obstacles to a lasting ceasefire. During the day, the terrorists shelled the districts 1070, Hai Al-Nasri and Leramon, as well as the area of El-Assad military academy, the Air Force school, the gas plant, and Castello trade center in Aleppo.

More than 1,800 people - civilians, the militants who had agreed to lay down arms and their families - were evacuated from Darayya, Damascus Governorate on Saturday and Sunday. They were taken by busses to Idlib and the a provisional accommodation center in Keisoua.

Severely wounded people were admitted to Damascus hospitals.

Since Sunday morning, ceasefire agreements have been signed with representatives of five populated localities in Latakiya (four localities) and Homs (one locality). The number of villages and townships that have joined the ceasfire process has increased to 486.

Talks with field commander of oppositionist units continues in Hama, Homs and Latakiya Governorates.

The number of paramilitary units that stated their commitment to the adoption and implementation of ceasefire terms remained unchanged at sixty-nine.

Hot meals stations and points for distribution of prime necessities continued providing assistance to people fleeing the districts of Aleppo held by terrorist groupings.
