HMEYMIM /Syria/, February 16. /TASS/. Russian military servicemen have provided humanitarian aid to 3,600 Syrians over the past 24 hours, the Russian Center for reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria reported on Thursday.
"Over the past 24 hours, the Russian Center for reconciliation of the warring parties has conducted nine humanitarian operations in the provinces of Aleppo (6), Damascus (2) and Homs (1)," the center said in its daily bulletin. "Over this period, 3,600 residents have received humanitarian aid. The total weight of relief consignments amounted to 7 tonnes."
In the city of Aleppo (in the neighborhoods of Al-Haydaria, Beni Zid, Old Aleppo and Sheikh Maqsood, at schools in the El Solhine and Al-Meridian neighborhoods) civilians were handed over 3.8 tonnes of bread. Residents of the populated localities of Deir al-Asafir and Marj al-Sultan (Damascus province) and Dahit al-Mejit (Homs province) have been handed over 750 food packages.
The Russian military has handed over more than 170 tonnes of relief consignments since the beginning of 2017.
Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry noted in its bulletin that Russian aircraft have deliverered 20 tonnes of food received by the Syrian authorities through the UN to the area close to the city of Deir ez-Zor. In addition to that, an Ilyushin Il-76 plane operated by the Russian Aerospace Forces has delivered relief goods with a total weight of 18.5 tonnes sent by Armenia to the Hmeymim airbase.
