Russia launches preparations for Army-2018 international military-technical forum

The Army international military and technical forum is scheduled for August 2018

MOSCOW, December 6. /TASS/. Russia’s Defense Ministry has launched preparations for the Army-2018 international military and technical forum, Defense Minister Army General Sergei Shoigu said on Wednesday.

"The Army international military and technical forum is planned to be held in August 2018. This large-scale event annually confirms its status as one of the largest world expositions of armament and military hardware," the defense minister said at the first session of the Army-2018 Organizing Committee.

This event creates necessary conditions for constructive communication and the exchange of experience between the producers and buyers of military hardware, the defense minister noted.

"The forum plays an important role in bringing together civil society and the army and raising its prestige and nurturing the feeling of pride for their country among the younger generation," Shoigu added.

The preparations for the fourth Army forum should take into account all the strong and weak points revealed during the work to organize the previous exhibitions, he stressed.

Along with holding the Army-2018 forum in the Patriot Congress and Exhibition Center, there are plans to host the first international forum, National Security Week, which will be aimed at increasing the efficiency of the work of federal executive authorities for developing the domestic security industry," the defense minister said.

The organization and holding of these international events "are complex, multi-faceted and creative work that requires the efforts of many agencies and structures," Shoigu noted.

National Security Week

As Deputy Defense Minister Pavel Popov said, the National Security Week will be held for the first time on August 21-26, 2018 along with the Army-2018 international military and technical forum.

"The National Security Week international forum is a new event aimed at strengthening the economic and political interests of our state as one of the basic producers and exporters of special hardware and technologies in the sphere of security," he said at a session of the Organizing Committee.

The forum also aims to develop international security cooperation and create favorable conditions for promoting Russian developments and introducing innovations, he added.

"It has been proposed to organize the National Security Week exposition to reflect the areas of the work of federal executive authorities in the field of ensuring national security," Popov said.

Specifically, the following thematic exhibitions are planned: the defense control system, the National Guard, fire-fighting protection and security, rescue means, personal security and security for business, the deputy defense minister said.

The National Security Week forum will also feature emergency medicine, the security of fuel and energy infrastructural facilities, food, transport and environmental security, construction security and the products made by units and structures of Russia’s Penitentiary Service in the sphere of the state’s security, Popov said.
