MOSCOW, April 11 (Itar-Tass) - Colonel General Vladimir Kulishov has been appointed First Deputy Director of Russia’s Federal Security Service and Director of the Border Service, a spokesman for the Federal Security Service told Itar-Tass on Thursday.
Kulishov will succeed Vladimir Pronichev on the post.
Vladimir Kulishov was born on July 20, 1957 in Russia’s southern Rostov region. In 1979, he graduated from the Kiev Institute of Civil Aviation Engineers and after graduation worked at a Rostov-in-Don-based civil aviation plant. In 1982, he joined Russia’s state security agencies. He graduated from the USSR KGB Higher School. Since 2000, Kulishov has been working in the central administration of the Federal Security Service in Moscow. In July 2003, he was appointed head of the Federal Security Service department for Saratov region. In 2004, he was appointed first deputy head of the Federal Security Service anti-terrorism directorate, and later he became head of the Federal Security Service department for the Chechen Republic. Since June 2008, Kulishov has been deputy director of the Federal Security Service and deputy head of administration of the National Anti-terrorism Committee.
