Four died, 2 people injured in road accident near Russian Caucasus Mineralnye Vody

MOSCOW, November 3 (Itar-Tass) - Four people died and two people were injured in a road accident near the city of Mineralnye Vody, Russia’s Caucasus, when a shuttle bus with the children’s football team from the Russian North Caucasian Republic of Dagestan and a minibus with Ukrainian numbers collided, all children are safe and sound, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported on Sunday.

The minibus collided with the bus, which was delivering the children’s football team of 34 children en route from Khasavyurt to Dagomys at 07:40 Moscow time (03:40 GMT) on Sunday in Mineralnye Vody district of Stavropol Territory.

“According to preliminary reports at 09:30 Moscow time (05:30 GMT) six people became the casualties of the road accident, including four people died, two people were taken to the hospital. According to preliminary reports, no children were injured,” the ministry reported.

“The shuttle bus was carrying 39 people, including 34 children at the age of 10-12 years,” the territorial emergency service reported. “One person died and one person was injured in the shuttle bus. Two people died in the minibus, two people were injured,” the territorial emergencies department said.

The territorial road police reported that the shuttle bus Mercedes and the minivan Renault with the Ukrainian numbers collided head-on at the 331st kilometre of the federal highway Kavkaz on the border of Mineralnye Vody and Andropovsky districts. The shuttle bus was trafficking the children’s football team from Dagestan to Sochi for a football competition.

The hotline was opened in the Stavropol territorial emergency situation department.

The children are given aid, it will be decided whether they will continue their trip or will come back home.

The head of the authorities of the Mineralnye Vody municipal district, representatives of the transport prosecutor’s office and the road police, local psychologists and a large group of rescuers are working at the road accident site.

The reverse traffic is provided on the highway Kavkaz.
