Pope Leo XIV hopes mission in Alyoshki will continue

The pontiff added that much needs to be done to achieve peace

VATICAN, November 7. /TASS/. Pope Leo XIV hopes that the humanitarian mission in Alyoshki in the Kherson Region was not an isolated incident.

"Thank God that we were able to carry out the humanitarian mission to save lives, and let us hope that this is not an isolated case. But, unfortunately, much still needs to be done to achieve peace [in Ukraine]," the pontiff said in an interview with journalists while flying to Montevideo, where he began his apostolic visit to Uruguay.

Leo XIV touched upon the situation in the town during a phone talk with Russian President Vladimir Putin on October 16.
