WASHINGTON, October 25. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump suggested that his wife, Melania, might play a more active role in the future in matters concerning Russia and Ukraine.
"It could happen," he told a reporter in Florida when asked about the possibility. "I think she’s doing better than the professionals right now. She got a ceasefire. This has to do with children and people, elderly people," the US leader added, referring to the ceasefire agreements between Russia and Ukraine near Alyoshki in the Kherson Region, which were reached with the assistance of the US First Lady.
Speaking about these agreements, Melania Trump noted: "It is great to have the Pope’s support, and they are starting a ceasefire on October 27, and I hope everything goes as it’s planned." When asked if she intended to visit Ukraine, Melania Trump replied: "We will see."
Earlier, Russian Armed Forces’ General Staff Chief and First Deputy Defense Minister Army General Valery Gerasimov stated that Russian servicemen would implement a ceasefire in the Kherson area starting at 1:00 a.m. GMT on October 27 to carry out a humanitarian operation near Alyoshki.
According to a White House statement on October 23, Russia and Ukraine have agreed to a ceasefire in Alyoshki in the Kherson Region. The two countries agreed to halt all hostilities in the settlement to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid and prepare for the evacuation of civilians through a special safe corridor.
