WASHINGTON, October 17. /TASS/. The United States will not send weapons to Ukraine at the expense of security of its own armed forces in the Middle East, said Jude Russo, a columnist for the US magazine The American Conservative.
Commenting on reports about Ukraine’s shortage of missiles for Patriot air defense systems, the possible cessation of Washington’s transfer of intelligence data to Kiev, and the restriction of the Starlink satellite system, he said: "This is bad for Ukraine, although not altogether surprising. For months, the press has been full of ominous stories and analyses about the dire state of American munitions stockpiles after the US began its latest little jaunt in the Middle East."
"Reality is beginning to bite," the observer noted. In his opinion, even in the current conditions, the United States can continue the war with Iran without any special risks, but this "will come at the cost of readiness in other theaters." He said that a war with Iran "will always tend to demand more attention and resources than the proxy conflict in Europe. The US is not going to sacrifice the safety of its own military personnel and its own economic security for Ukraine."
